Dear SACS Families,
As we head into Winter Break, I want to thank you for a strong first semester and celebrate the many positive things happening across Southwest Allen County Schools (SACS).
At SACS, we remain committed to being the District of Choice: a place where students are supported, challenged, and inspired, and where families feel confident in the opportunities available to their children. Guided by our Strategic Plan, we are expanding learning options, broadening choice, and engaging families in meaningful ways to ensure every student is prepared for future success.

A Bright Future
Aligned with the Academics Pillar of our Strategic Plan, we are thoughtfully planning future Career and Technical Education (CTE) opportunities while continuing to explore specialized programming at the elementary level. Although CTE planning is still in its early stages, the enthusiasm and input from our staff, families, and community have been invaluable in shaping programs that reflect student interests and real-world pathways. Family feedback also continues to guide our exploration of elementary programming to ensure it meets the needs and aspirations of our students. If you have not yet shared your input, we encourage you to complete the feedback form here. More information about future CTE opportunities is available here.

On Tuesday, the SACS School Board approved the adoption of Amplify/CKLA as our new Kindergarten–8th grade High-Quality Curricular Materials (HQCM) for literacy. Selected through a comprehensive review process, Amplify/CKLA offers a knowledge-building, content-rich approach to literacy that integrates reading, writing, speaking, listening, science, and social studies. This comprehensive design strengthens comprehension, vocabulary development, and background knowledge: critical components for accelerating student achievement in literacy. The adoption reinforces our commitment to high-quality, standards-aligned instruction. During the second semester, we will provide professional development to build teacher capacity with these materials, with full implementation beginning in the 2026–2027 school year.

SACS Showcase
Lastly, we are excited to welcome families considering SACS for their children’s education to our first-ever SACS Showcase on Thursday, January 8, from 6–8 p.m. at Homestead High School! As part of our Limited Open Enrollment initiative, this event gives families the opportunity to explore the wide range of academic programs, extracurricular activities, and student supports that make our schools exceptional, all in one location. Guests will also be able to tour Homestead that evening and schedule visits at other schools they are interested in exploring.
We hope you will join us and help spread the word! Please share this invitation with friends, neighbors, and community members who may be considering SACS for their children.

As we end the first semester and look to the new year, our students continue to explore, learn, and achieve each day, demonstrating curiosity, resilience, and a commitment to excellence. Their accomplishments, combined with the dedication of our staff and the support of our families, make SACS a truly special place. Together, we are building schools where every student feels valued, supported, and fully prepared for the future.
As you enjoy time with family and friends over the break, I wish you peace, good health, and happiness. We look forward to welcoming students back for an inspiring and exciting second semester on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.
I love this place,
Joshua D. St. John, Ph.D., Superintendent Southwest Allen County Schools |
