Welcome to Woodside Band!

Welcome to one of the most exciting band programs in the Fort Wayne area. I am glad that you will be joining us!  I hope that you are looking forward to being one of over 85 students signed up for the sixth-grade band at Woodside Middle School.

Now that you have signed-up for band on your schedule, the next step in the process is for you to make an appointment for band display night.  At display night we give each student the opportunity to try out all of the band instruments.  This is VERY important to your success as a musician.  Because of each student’s various physical characteristics, a student may find it much easier to play certain instruments while others seem more difficult. The goal is to help each student get started on an instrument that he/she can be successful playing. I also need to be sure that we have a well-balanced band.  This is important for the success of the entire band program.  PLEASE DO NOT MAKE ARRANGEMENTS TO RENT OR PURCHASE AN INSTRUMENT UNTIL AFTER YOU HAVE GONE THROUGH THE DISPLAY PROCESS!  Arrangements to rent the instrument for a trial period can be made that evening.  If your family cannot afford to rent an instrument, we have a few instruments that can be used for a reduced or no fee. You may also wish to bring your checkbook to handle financial obligations needed for instrument rental contracts.

Our display nights will be held on August 1st and 2nd, 2022 in the band room at Woodside Middle School.  COME TO DOOR #3.  Each student will meet with a music specialist from Quinlan and Fabish Music Company.  Appointments are necessary and will be taken through: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0b4da4a92aa13-band4

OR access this “sign up genius” through the Home Page of Woodside Middle School.

The appointment will last for approximately 30 minutes.  You should plan on being at school for no more than one hour all together.  You may call our secretary at school to make an appointment if you do not have internet connection (431-2701).

If you cannot make this date for display night, I will fit your student for an instrument during the first week of school.

I look forward to meeting you and your parents at our display night!

Sincerely,

Tony Strebig, Woodside Band Director
