Summer Running:
The season runs from August to Mid October but summer running in the months of June and July is strongly encouraged. I have attached workout schedules for those interested in running over the summer. Any form of training is encouraged (biking, swimming, running) as they will all benefit you during the season. I have made a schedule for advanced runners and one for those of you that are new to the sport. Please Please Please do not over-exert yourself over the summer as it can lead to injuries that will jeopardize your season. If you have not been running then do not jump into the advanced schedule unless you are a varsity runner from last year. This is in no way me telling you not to work hard. I just want to make sure that you are prepared for the season and not subject to an injury. If you are a varsity runner from last year then you should follow the advanced schedule. If the schedule is not feasible for you then just try any type of aerobic activity whether that is running, biking or something else. The main goal during summer running is to get the base endurance down so that during the season we can focus on speed rather than endurance training. Any type of aerobic activity will give you a head start towards this goal.
Meets
We will have roughly 11 meets this season with some falling on Weekdays and others on Weekends. The schedule is updated and will most likely not change. If we do have a change I will be sure to update everyone on my email list. Please email me using the email above so I can make sure you are on the list.
IMPORTANT: Not all athletes will compete in every meet. Some meets will be for varsity runners only. However, the majority of meets with have both a varsity and a JV race.
Physical Forms
All participants must have a Physical Form completed BEFORE they can participate in the first official practice. If they do not have a form on file or turned in at the first practice they will have to go home. We will also need an medical information card (sometimes referred to as a yellow card) for each student. These need to be turned in to the coaches as soon as possible as well.
