No Summer Running July 5th

Summer Running Info

Welcome to the 2018 Woodside Cross Country season!  We start the season right at the beginning of school, so it is important to build endurance and strength before the school year starts.  Practice will be Tuesday’s and Thursday’s from 8:00-9:00 AM at Van Hoozen Park on Aboite Center Road. The first day we meet will be Tuesday June 12th.  It is not mandatory to join us if you are thinking of being on the team, but it is a great way to get in shape and meet new friends before the school year starts.  Summer can be very busy so please just join us when you can.  It is mandatory to fill out a white card with emergency medical information before you can run, so please pick those up in the office and have them filled out by a parent or legal guardian the first day you come to summer running. White cards will also be available at practice. A physical is required before we begin official practice in August but it is not required for summer running.

Runners should bring a bottle of water with them.  It is extremely important to stay hydrated, especially in the summer heat.  Wear cool comfortable clothes to run in.  A good pair of running shoes is recommended.  Three Rivers Running Company and Fleet Feet do an excellent job helping you find the shoes that best fit your feet.  Ask about a team discount.  Boys must wear shirts at all times and girls must have a shirt over their sports bras.

Parents are encouraged to join us and either run or walk with us, or enjoy the shady pavilion while we are out running.  We will utilize the paths as well as the environmental center by Homestead High School.  If you have any further questions, please email me at
